Firmware & Software Engineer
I build software from the firmware up: UEFI drivers and BIOS tooling, low-level Windows applications, and the web platforms that run the business around them.

joao@web:~$ I'm a firmware and software engineer from Portugal. Most of my work lives below the operating system: UEFI DXE drivers and applications built with EDK2, AMI BIOS customisation, UEFI variables and SMBIOS, and native NT applications delivered through the ACPI WPBT table and signed through Microsoft's WHQL process.
Above the firmware, I write the Windows tools that talk to it (C, C++ and C#, from Win32 services to WinUI 3 apps) and the PHP and MySQL platforms that support production, quality control and after-sales operations.
I'm also studying Big Data & Cloud Computing, working with AWS, Docker, Django and PostgreSQL. This site is where I publish articles and research: deep dives, experiments, and the things I wish someone had written down before me.

Keypad access-control system. It evolved from a PIN + servo lock into a hardened version with an admin PIN, armed "Protected Mode", intrusion alarm and timestamped event logging.
